By Tree ID

We provide an unique tree ID consisting of numbers and letters for each of the trees. You can found a specific tree easily with its ID. You can use comma "," to conduct a batch search. And wildcard "*" is supported.

By Location

You can search for ginkgo trees in a specific region by its administrative division. For those tress in China, you can limit your search to the county level. Compared with those trees in China, foreign trees are often lack of detailed lacating infomation, some of which are only accurate to country or state level.

By Description

The variety infomation and growth condition of some trees is recorded in our database. You might try searching for records with those information.

What are the tags mean?

Several tags, usually with green background, is given together with tree ID. These tags provide informations like reviewed status, data sources and so on.

Reviewed/Unreviewd

A Reviewed tag means the tree record was provided or checked by our group. While an Unreviewed tag means the tree record was collected from some articals or books, and has not been checked by our gruop. These trees are often lack of growth condition data.

Source

The data source is provided in the second tag. "Ginkgo DB" means that this record is provided by our ginkgo research group.

Parameter Specification

What is the parameter "CII"?

The parameter "CII" (Crown Illumination Index) is used to record the light condition in the tree canopy. According to Dawkins and Field (1978), the light condition is devide into five levels:

5 ( )Crown completely exposed (to vertical light and to lateral light within the 90 degree inverted cone encompassing the crown)
4 ( )Full overhead light (>=90% of the vertical projection of the crown exposed to vertical light; later light blocked within some or all of the 90 degree inverted cone encompassing the crown)
3 ( )Some overhead light (10-90% of the vertical project of the crown exposed to vertical light)
2 ( )Lateral light (<10% of the vertical project of the crown exposed to vertical light; crown lit laterally)
1 ( )No direct light (crown not lit directly either vertically or laterally)

What is the parameter "CCI"?

The parameter "CII" (Crown Completeness Index) is used to record the Crown condition of a tree. This parameter is devide into four levels:

4 ( )75-100% of the crown is intact (no or few branches lost)
3 ( )50-75% of the crown is intact
2 ( )25-50% of the crown is intact
1 ( )0-25% of the crown is intact (most of the crown is gone)
